Bewitched stars appear in rare behind-the-scenes interview

After 56 years, digitized material features exclusive images of Elizabeth Montgomery and Agnes Moorehead

In 1967, Lu Ryden had the opportunity to go behind the scenes of Bewitched to record her program, Ryden's Show. The program aired on KNTV, which was then a subsidiary of ABC in San Jose, California.

In the background, we see the scenery of McMann & Tate, the advertising agency where Darrin worked. During her visit, Ryden was able to interview stars Elizabeth Montgomery and Agnes Moorehead during a break from shooting the fourth season.

The video footage taken behind the scenes of the series is a rare and valuable material as there was no such information available before. There are just a few interviews from the time with the cast talking about the show. It's a remarkable piece of history that must be celebrated!

Based on the shooting date and the clothes worn in the interview, it is believed that the actresses were recording episode S04E06 "No Zip in My Zap".

Montgomery discusses whether she feels typecast going into the 4th season of Bewitched, doing live television, a nerve-wracking experience doing an explosion special effect on Bewitched, what a great cast and crew they are, and her family and hobbies.

Moorhead responds to questions about behind-the-scenes interviews ("I don't believe in them, it breaks the illusion.."); the time element of theater vs. television; lack of discipline in television; her teaching school.

The material is part of the collection of Ryden and the KNTV channel and was originally made available on the Internet Archive website, a non-profit virtual library.
